At the end of 2010, St. Louis was ranked the most dangerous city in America, according to CQ Press. Some have argued against the data and the harsh ranking. However, one thing is for sure, St. Louis is known and has had a long time reputation as a dangerous city. We live in St. Louis. God has called us to be a light that shines in dark places. God wants us to seek the welfare of the city.
“Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” ~Jeremiah 29:5–7
At MISSIODEI we love the city. And we want the Lord to break our hearts even more for the city. It is very important to us that we contextualize in our own suburban context and that we constantly send out missionaries to contextualize in the diverse contexts that encompass the St. Louis area. We will serve, engage and plant churches through out the city and we will pray that St. Louis will be transformed by the power of the gospel for his glory.
