First, let me begin with some good news. In May, MISSIODEI Church decided to take the summer to re-launch, rebuild a strong core team, change our name to Mission Church, and build momentum as we enter into the Fall. During this time we have seen new families join our mission and old families take on vibrant and healthy leadership roles. I’m personally very excited about this.
However, that’s not the most exciting thing. The most exciting thing has been to witness a new couple give their life to Christ and see their lives being transformed before our very eyes. One of our Missional Communities committed themselves to being intentionally missional. They have opened their home, on an almost daily basis, to invite people over for dinner, coffee, Bible studies, and prayer.
Their efforts truly paid off when they were able to lead their friends to Jesus. This is really exciting for our church because it is a very tangible picture of the power of our motto “MISSION IS LIFE.”
WE COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP
During this fragile time, we have suffered financially. Kelly and I have been church planting for almost 4 years now and the Lord has always provided the finances needed to continue pursuing the vision that MISSION IS LIFE. That provision seems to always come in the mail, miraculously, from friends like you.
This month, for the first time in four years, Mission Church no longer has the funds to pay our salary. Several members of our church give and we have a few outside supporters. We have never received a salary raise and we have been extremely frugal in our church spending since day one.
CAN YOU HELP?
I’m writing today to ask if you would be willing to give during this exciting yet difficult season in our journey.
Will you make a commitment to give monthly for the next year or a one-time gift?
HERE’S WHAT I’M DOING
Now, since I’m asking for your support, I want to also tell you what I’m doing to provide support. Once Kelly and I saw that Mission Church was not going to make budget to pay our salary I began working on 2 ways to make extra money. I started Doxa Design Studio where I freelance my gifts in web development and graphic design. I also, recently, launched WeddingPastorSTL and became certified to administer premarital counseling through Prepare/Enrich. My ultimate passion is church planting and preaching the Gospel. I would rather devote the majority of my time doing just that, however, the stress of not having a consistent and steady income makes ministry difficult for our family. My hope is to create enough income to supplement my salary during this transition period.
THE BOTTOM LINE
So, we are asking for financial support but I am also hustling to make it easier for Mission Church to succeed in the long term. I believe in our vision to build a church where MISSION IS LIFE and I still believe God has called us to that mission. Would you prayerfully consider supporting us?
STRATEGY FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS
Mission church will continue to host one public preview per month as well as weekly intimate Bible communities in our homes through August, September, and October. Our strategy is to add new families to our launch team and then relaunch once we get a good solid number of adults. Please pray that we are able to reach our goal.
If you know anyone in the Lake St. Louis area who is looking for a church and an authentic missional community please tell them about Mission Church. If you are in the St. Louis area and are able to come to our preview we would love to worship with you.
