The heart of all that we are at MISSIODEI can be experienced in a Missional Community [MC]. One of the highest goals of our church is to build uncommon community.

“Uncommon” – because the kind of community that we all need and long for is hard to accomplish. It is not found on Facebook or Instagram. In fact t is frequently not even found in a local “church”. Hundreds of folks gather in churches each and every week yet say very little to on another. Still, it is overwhelmingly clear that we all long for deep authentic community. That is because we were made in the image of God and God is a community. God is 3 persons in one Godhead. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each person is intimately connected in unity. God is community.

“It is not enough to say that God is interested in community or even obsessed with community. God, rightly defined and understood, is community.”  Bill Donahue & Russ Robinson

Community is not just who God is or how we have been created but it is the expression of God on this earth. We must be in community in order to accurately reflect the Gospel.

“The making of community cannot be a side issue or an optional matter for Christians. It is as important to God as one’s individual salvation. Without community, there is no Christianity. Community is central to God’s purposes for humankind.”  Gilbert

At MISSIODEI we are committed to growing our church through Missional Communities. A MC is not just a community group or a small group. A Missional Community doesn’t just exist to provide you with a community of friends. (Although that is awesome, and important, and good.) A Missional Community exists as an uncommon community of folks living in Gospel unity and reaching and serving the culture around them. The primary difference between a “small group” and a MC is mission. Here are a few quick definitions of a MC:

“A Missional Community is a small group of people who are seeking to be shaped by the gospel and live out the mission of God by demonstrating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a specific pocket of people.”

“A Missional community is a group of people, about the size of an extended family, who are united through Christian community around a common service and witness to a particular neighborhood or network of relationships. The participants of missional communities find their primary identity of “church” within the missional community, rather than a larger worship service or small group. In essence, this group of people becomes a close-knit spiritual family on mission together.” {Soma Communities}MC-3 MC-2

At MISSIODEI our mission is Christ, Community, Culture and we firmly believe that Missional Communities are the vehicle for that mission. We worship Christ be being in a community that demonstrates the Gospel through mission in our culture. It is our dream that we become a church that is simply a network of Missional Communities who gather together on the weekend to worship and celebrate what God has been doing through out the week in our Missional Communities. That is what it looks like to be the church rather than simply going to church.
