Through out the history of the world, even American history, society was built around the extended family. It wasn’t until recently that America has abandoned the extended family for the nuclear family. In this message we look at the great value of the extended family, explore cultural shifts in television that reveal how Americans are longing for the extended family to return, and we discuss how the church must have a complete paradigm shift in how we think about “doing church.” We can longer think in terms of small groups or life groups or home groups. We must push for OIKOS, or an extended family.
